Cantaloupe, Carrot, Nectarine Fruit Juice Recipe

My cantaloupe, carrot, nectarine fruit juice recipe originally came from the Beta Blast recipe in The Juicing Bible on page 164. The Beta Blast calls for apricots, but I couldn’t find fresh apricots anywhere. So, I made due with what  I had available and chose to substitute nectarine’s. It turned out great and if you like cantaloupe, you’re going to love this Cantaloupe, Carrot, Nectarine juice recipe.

As you’re juicing be sure to alternate between the soft fruits and the carrot. The carrot is hard and will help push the cantaloupe and nectarine through your juicer. I use an Omega J8004 Nutrition Center.

Cantaloupe, Carrot, Nectarine

Cantaloupe, Carrot, Nectarine Fruit Juice – Beta Blast

I was curious why it is called the Beta Blast in the book, so I looked up some info on the ingredients and here’s what I found:

Researchers have recently measured the carotenoid contents of six different California-grown cantaloupe hybrids and discovered that their beta-carotene content can reach levels as high as 3,138 micrograms (per 100 grams of fresh weight). That’s about 30 times higher than the beta-carotene content of fresh oranges. – WHFoods

Now that level of beta-carotene doesn’t match up to the amount in carrots, but our recipe also has carrots! What about my substitute, the nectarine?

Juicy nectarines have delicious flavor and sweet cream-yellow or white flesh. Fruits and vegetables with a bright red, orange and yellow color often have a high amount of beta carotene. Did you know that? It’s the truth.

So there you go. All of the ingredients in this wonderful recipe have a good amount of beta carotene and if you’re lucky enough to find apricots, then you’ll have the exact “Beta Blast” recipe as in The Juicing Bible.

This is a delicious and healthy fruit juice recipe. I love the flavor, color and texture. Try this, you won’t be sorry!

Cantaloupe, Carrot, Nectarine

Serves 2 people

  • 6 carrots

  • 4 fresh nectarines, pitted ( the Beta Blast recipe called for apricots)

  • 1/2 small cantaloupe ( I decided to peel mine, but left in the seeds)

cantaloupe, carrot and nectarine

Cantaloupe and Pineapple | Simple Recipes

Cantaloupe and Pineapple??? I didn’t think cantaloupe and pineapple would go together well, but I discovered this sweet surprise one morning while juicing leftovers. Cantaloupe and pineapple do go together well! It’s delicious and refreshing especially served over ice.

We have been getting some good cantaloupe and pineapple here in South Dakota lately and I’m finding it easy to juice them. Lately I’ve just been peeling the outer skin (netting) off cantaloupe with my OXO Good Grips Swivel Peeler. This seems to work very well and with some of the greenish skin still on the cantaloupe it goes through my Omega J8004 Juicer really nice. It doesn’t over power the juice either.

With the pineapple, lately I’ve just been washing them and juicing with the skin. This adds some bulk and helps it go through the juicer. If I push pineapple through the juicer too fast it clogs it up. However, with this recipe I had about 1/2 of fresh pineapple cut into pieces and I juiced it that way. No skin! Alternating between the cantaloupe and pineapple worked good. The pineapple didn’t get backed up into the juicing chamber.

Cantaloupe and Pineapple

Makes 10 ounces – Very good served over ice.
  • 1/2 cantaloupe (outer skin peeled)

  • 1/2 cup fresh pineapple

Alternate pushing cantaloupe and pineapple slowly through the juicer to avoid clogging.

Benefits of Cantaloupe and Pineapple

Cantaloupes are packed with beta-carotene, vitamins A, B6, B1, B3,  and C.

Bromelain in Pineapple is a natural antioxidant and an effective anti-inflammatory. Pineapple is also full of vitamin C.

Combine these together and you have a fabulous nutritional juice.

Beta Blast Juice Recipe | Cantaloupe, Carrot, Apricot

Well what do you know, I found some apricots. If you’re keeping up and read my last article you may remember I substituted nectarines for apricots. So, I decided to go back and do the recipe the way it is in The Juicing Bible. The Beta Blast Juice recipe is an awesome fresh fruit juice for people looking to infuse their body with beta-carotene.

beta blast juice recipe

Fresh Juice: Beta Blast Juice Recipe

 Serves 1

  •  3 carrots

  • 2 fresh apricots, pitted

  • 1/4 cantaloupe, peeled and with seeds

beta blast juice recipe

The apricot doesn’t juice well in my Omega J8004 juicer, so I had to go slow and follow each one with a carrot. Slow and easy with this one and let the juicer run to get all of the apricot juice.

This is a delicious recipe, easy to make and full of beta-carotene. Juice and enjoy!

UPDATE:  Tips for Picking Apricots

1 .Buy fresh. Opt for in-season apricots — late spring through the summer — which are grown in the U.S. Out-of-season (winter) apricots have to get shipped from other countries and, to make the long journey, these apricots have to be picked when they’re under-ripe, which means they’re more likely to contain less flavor.

2. Choose carefully. Examine each apricot for plumpness and a golden, or orange-red, color. Avoid apricots that are green or pale yellow, or that are bruised or shriveled.

3. Give them a sniff. An apricot that has flavor also has a sweet and ready fragrance.

Juice Fast – 48 Hour Juice Cleanse Afternoon/Evening Day 2

I really like this new book. I think one the most interesting things I’ve found in this book, Juicing for Life: A Guide to the Benefits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juicing, is that during a juice fast Cherie Calbom presents a few unusual ideas. Not really unusual in my mind, but probably to a lot of those hard core juicers out there.

1. Cherie says, it’s okay to dilute any or all of these juices. I’ve always said that I think it’s a good idea to dilute fruit juice. I don’t do it all of the time, it just depends on how I feel. Sometimes I even dilute my vegetable juice if it’s thick or too strong.

2. Cherie also says vegetable broths can be drunk as well in the juice fast. She uses fresh vegetables and simmers them in hot water, removing the vegetables later and adding some seasoning. Great idea!

3. If you’re just too hungry and feel that it can’t go on any longer, Cherie says, don’t hesitate to modify the fast by adding fresh raw vegetables. Another wonderful idea.

It makes sense to me that if you don’t think you can stand it any longer (maybe you’ve gone 12 hours) to eat a few fresh vegetables to get you by instead of breaking the fast. This isn’t a competition and the more of these juice fasts you complete the easier it gets.

4. Another thing that I agree with her on is the duration of a juice fast. If you’re going it alone, don’t go for more than 5 days. It’s just good sense in my mind. Why overdo it by trying to go 30 days? Like I said, this isn’t a competition and if you’re in it to lose weight, there’s a better way than juice fasting for 30 days. Try this book for one!

This has been an exciting juice fast, 48 hour cleanse for me. I’ve learned more by reading the book Juicing for Life: A Guide to the Benefits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juicing and I plan on using it’s suggestions for diet. The authors of this book, Cherie Calbom and Maureen Keane really know their stuff. Pick up a copy on Amazon, you’ll be glad you did.

Words of caution: Diabetics should seek a doctors approval before trying a juice fast. You can fast from 1 to 5 days anytime you like, but if you fast for longer than 5 days, I recommend you seek a heath care professionals supervision.

Beta Blast Juice Recipe | Cantaloupe, Carrot, Apricot

Well what do you know, I found some apricots. If you’re keeping up and read my last article you may remember I substituted nectarines for apricots. So, I decided to go back and do the recipe the way it is in The Juicing Bible. The Beta Blast Juice recipe is an awesome fresh fruit juice for people looking to infuse their body with beta-carotene.

Fresh Juice: Beta Blast Juice Recipe

 Serves 1

  •  3 carrots

  • 2 fresh apricots, pitted

  • 1/4 cantaloupe, peeled and with seeds
