Integrating Juicing Into Your Diet

I have been asked many times, should I just juice or should I eat when I juice? When you only juice basically what you’re doing is a juice cleanse or juice fast. What I wanted to do when I started juicing was to intergrate juicing into my daily meals. That’s where I believe the real long term benefits of juicing are.

Integrating juicing into your diet will improve your overall health.

Studies show, only 20 percent of Americans eat five or more daily servings of fruits and vegetables, and a mere 5 percent consume seven servings. Integrating juicing into your diet will help you get those needed servings of fruits and vegetables.

integrating juicing into your dietThe only thing you’ll be missing is the fiber and you can get fiber from other foods you eat. I’m not suggesting you juice all of your fruits and vegetables. Supplement your diet with juice.

For a complete diet you need the whole foods too. Raw or lightly steamed vegetables and raw fresh fruit are part of a healthy diet.

Integrating Juicing Into Your Diet

Lately I’ve been using a diet from the book, Juicing for Life: A Guide to the Benefits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juicing. When integrating juicing into your diet I believe it’s best to follow a plan at first. Once you get into the routine, it’s easy to continue. “Repetition is the father of all learning”, I don’t know who said it first, but it’s true.

In addition to the above I have snacks between meals which can include fresh juice, yogurt or nut butter on whole grain crackers. Celery, carrots and apples are great healthy snacks too.

I prepare my juice in the morning and store it in mason jars for later in the day. I don’t keep it for more than 24 hours, it just tastes better fresh  😎

I try to drink my juice about 20 minutes before my meal, so I have it on an empty stomach. This gives my digestive system time to absorb those fantastic and powerful nutrients.

If you’d like to see the diet plan in it’s entirety, please pick up the book, Juicing for Life: A Guide to the Benefits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juicing. You’ll be glad you did.

Juice Fast And Protein | Will I Get Enough Protein?

How Do I Get Protein During My Juice Fast?

I hear that question often, and many people say to me they need to get their protein. I imagine the majority of people don’t know how they can possibly supply their body with enough protein while consuming only FRESH fruit & vegetable JUICE. There are many excellent raw sources of protein. See below.
protein

Not getting enough protein while juice fasting is a legitimate concern. Getting enough of any food source is important and protein is something our bodies require to thrive. Fret not people, raw, plant-based protein absolutely provides a person with more than enough protein to nourish the body. Ask any true Vegan!

Juicing

When juicing regularly or juice fasting you’re not starving your body. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Your body is getting more nutrition that it’s probably ever received. Juicing breaks down the cells and concentrates the nutrients allowing your body to absorb more. You wouldn’t be able to eat even half of the raw fruits and vegetables you’ll be consuming on a juice fast. It’s just too much to chew and swallow.

Here’s a list of several raw sources of protein you can juice: Asparagus, Beet Greens, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Collard Greens, Kale, Mustard Greens, Spinach, Swiss Chard, Sprouts, Tomatoes and Turnip Greens. (Source)

Protein Levels

From LIVESTRONG.COM:

Blood protein levels remain constant throughout a prolonged juice diet. Proteins are synthesized from decomposed cells, notes Germany’s “fasting therapist”, Dr. Otto Buchinger, who founded several European health clinics. New cell growth is enhanced during a juice diet, as the body shifts protein and other stored nutrients to where they are needed. After a few days of consuming only liquids, your body will “autolyze,” or self-digest, cells and tissues which are diseased, damaged, aging or dead. The process has been called “a burning of rubbish” by Buchinger in his book, “Fasting: the Buchinger Method.”

Using a juice extractor unlocks essential nutrients in the fibers of fruits and vegetables, notes Ron Lagerquist, author of “Fasting to Freedom” and “Whole Foods & Healing Recipes.” Lagerquist maintains that a juice diet provides better rejuvenation than fasting on water, which often causes an unpleasant toxic crisis.

I do not promote long term juice fasts of 30 days or more. 5 to 7 days is sufficient for me. Ask your doctor if adding fresh juice to your diet would be appropriate for you.

Metabolic Cooking Craze

metabolic cooking boxsetSo what’s up with this Metabolic Cooking craze and what is Metabolic Cooking anyway? I had to find out for myself. As you may know I not only love juicing and making smoothies, but I also write about health and wellness.

I wanted to see for myself if this metabolic cooking craze is for real or not. There are so many diet plans out there and so much hype it’s hard to know what’s good. Let me tell you right now, this Metabolic Cooking program I got is the real deal. It’s not hype and it’s backed by solid research.

So if you want to eat healthier, look better, feel better or lose weight, I highly recommend Metabolic Cooking. It’s just a good common sense approach to healthy eating habits.

Did your mother ever tell you to eat your vegetables? Well she was right, vegetables are so important to good healthy eating habits. Not to mention fruit. Good whole, fresh fruit is great for your body. Buy organic fruits and vegetables when possible and grow your own if you can. That’s the best way I’ve found!

Metabolic Cooking

What is Metabolic Cooking? Metabolic Cooking is NOT  just another .pdf book, it’s an entire program designed specifically with maximum fat loss in mind. Rather than using ultra low calorie foods that leave you wanting more, it uses top fat burning foods that supercharge your metabolic rate so that fat loss progresses along much more quickly despite the fact that you still get to eat satisfying, delicious meals. It includes a website and community of people helping each other to eat healthier and lose weight. I’m so impressed, it’s a GREAT website!

When you purchase Metabolic Cooking you’ll gain access to the METABOLIC COOKING ACCESS CENTER & LEAN KITCHEN COOKBOOK CLUB. This includes knowledgeable information guides, cookbooks, done-for-you meal plans, desserts and bonuses. There is a wealth of information to help and guide you along.

I’ll review some recipes later, but for now let me share some information from the Fat Loss Optimizer Guide.

1. Make sure that you’re cooking with nothing but high quality protein sources. Eggs, chicken and poultry, lean red meat (lean beef or game meat which is a fantastic source of protein), fish, as well as pork are the main ones to turn to.

2. One of the most important foods that you must be taking in through your diet plan is low glycemic index carbohydrates.  Low-GI (Glycemic Index) carbohydrates are the ones you want to choose, not those overly processed, high-sugar, insulin spiking carbs that most people are eating.

3. Good fats are needed by your body to remain healthy and to function at optimal levels. Healthy fats are heavily involved in maintaining a healthy metabolic rate and will influence how well your thyroid gland functions.

I wholeheartedly agree with all of the above statements from the Metabolic Cooking Program and it is backed by solid research. (I might add though, my personal preference is to eat less meat, more fish and more fruits and vegetables.) There are plenty of good cooking recipes to be found and Metabolic Cooking uses smoothies in their program too! They know what’s good! Choose the recipes that suit your taste. If you don’t like pork, replace it with something else. You can choose and it works!

So to wrap this up let me say, this is not just a diet and it’s not hype. This is a health plan! Follow this plan and I guarantee you, you’ll be healthier, lose weight, look and feel better.

Thanks for reading. I’m trying new recipes from the Metabolic Cooking Program, so stay tuned. What are you doing to eat healthier?
