Both recipes are delicious and good for the body.

Nutritional Value

The yellow bell peppers main nutritional contribution to this juice is in vitamin C content. A 2/3-cup serving of yellow bell peppers delivers 306 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. This is a good time of year for vitamin C. You’ll also get 8 percent of the vitamin B-6 you need for the day from a 2/3-cup serving of yellow peppers. All of the B-complex vitamins promote healthy liver function, as well as healthy eyes, skin and hair.

In the other Reboot With Joe Recipe you’ll find one bunch of parsley. Parsley provides your body with vitamin-A, beta-carotene, vitamin-C, vitamin-E, zea-xanthin, lutein, and cryptoxanthin. It’s also an excellent source of vitamin-K and folates.

Australia Day inspired Claire (Reboot Naturopath, B.HSc ND) to come up with two beautiful green and gold juices for this very special weekend in Australia.

Reboot With Joe Recipes

Gold Juice

½ pineapple

1 yellow pepper (capsicum)

1 lemon

1″ piece ginger
Green Juice

4 kale leaves

1/4 -1/2 green melon

1 large cucumber

1 bunch parsley

Thanks for reading and Juice On!

<iframe style="width: 120px; height: 240px;" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ss&ref=as_ss_li_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=primejuicers00-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=162315216X&asins=162315216X&linkId=48cd0a896207029d100d2593c858fe37&show_ width="300" height="150" frame marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no">

Resources:

LIVESTRONG.COM: The Nutrition Profile For A Yellow Bell Pepper

Nutrition And You: Parsley Nutrition Facts And Health Benefits

In the Reboot Kitchen: Australia Day Juices | Reboot With Joe.

In the Reboot Kitchen: Australia Day Juices | Reboot With JoeAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04016107437933723258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6680007779871172566.post-72658288815247900782017-09-09T09:52:00.000-07:002017-09-09T02:50:34.234-07:00Juice Cleansing That Works Part I
Juice Cleansing Programs That Get Good Results

Make juicing fresh vegetable and fruit juice a part of your daily routine. Try juice cleansing (fasting) regularly and you’ll be surprised at the results you get. Some people complete a 24 to 72 hour juice cleanse once a month and some do it more often. Others will do juice cleansing once a quarter or maybe twice a year. It’s completely up to you.

You could try one day to start with. Just 24 hours of nothing but fresh vegetable and fruit juice. If it makes sense to change the oil in you car regularly, then doesn’t it make sense to clean out your bodily systems too? If you’re doing a 3 day cleanse, be sure to stick with it even if you feel bad after the first day. This is a common reaction to a cleanse (detox), it get’s a little worse before it gets better. A lot of people report after a day or two they feel worse, but then after that the breakthrough just comes out of nowhere. The energy returns and you feel great!

I’ll be writing more in the weeks ahead about juice cleansing and detoxing. There will be more about the specific cleanses and recipes for individual organs of the body. I’ll go over a good first juice fast (cleanse) that just about anyone can do. If you’ve never done this before a good 24 hour juice fast is the way to go. That’s how I started.

Just one day of fresh vegetable and fruit juice (let’s not forget water). That’s a confidence builder. Then we’ll move on to a 3 day cleanse. I’m a believer in moderation. I don’t think it’s wise to go overboard at first. Start slowly and see how well you feel. You can do a big 30 day cleanse in the future, but for now, easy does it. You’ll get better results if you start out with something manageable rather then going all out and trying something you’re not mentally or physically ready for. I’m in this for the long haul, not just a quick fix.

These programs are life changing, but only if you stick with it and are consistent.

Let’s try a simple recipe to build up to our first 24 hour juice fast.

For Breakfast:

3 or 4 carrots

1 small beet

1/2 cucumber

1/2 small lemon (peeled if not organic)

1/2 in. of ginger root

1 apple

Remember to wash everything thoroughly. If you’re concerned about chemicals/pesticides you can peel the lemon and cucumber. Even the apple, but I just wash apples. However, I do peel the lemon because it’s really strong otherwise. Do it to your taste. Experiment, have fun, enjoy and we’ll visit this again next week. Thanks for reading.

Important Note: If you’re diabetic, hypoglycemic, anemic, taking medication or have any serious health problems, please consult a health professional before trying a juice fast.

If you plan on detoxing, I highly recommend you get this book!

THE BIG BOOK OF JUICES AT AMAZON

JUICING FOR BEGINNERS

Juice Cleansing That Works Part IAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04016107437933723258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6680007779871172566.post-72490990041763674342017-01-16T15:55:00.000-08:002017-01-16T07:51:24.216-08:00Integrating Juicing Into Your Diet
I have been asked many times, should I just juice or should I eat when I juice? When you only juice basically what you’re doing is a juice cleanse or juice fast. What I wanted to do when I started juicing was to intergrate juicing into my daily meals. That’s where I believe the real long term benefits of juicing are.

Integrating juicing into your diet will improve your overall health.

Studies show, only 20 percent of Americans eat five or more daily servings of fruits and vegetables, and a mere 5 percent consume seven servings. Integrating juicing into your diet will help you get those needed servings of fruits and vegetables.

The only thing you’ll be missing is the fiber and you can get fiber from other foods you eat. I’m not suggesting you juice all of your fruits and vegetables. Supplement your diet with juice.

For a complete diet you need the whole foods too. Raw or lightly steamed vegetables and raw fresh fruit are part of a healthy diet.

Integrating Juicing Into Your Diet

Lately I’ve been using a diet from the book, Juicing for Life: A Guide to the Benefits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juicing. When integrating juicing into your diet I believe it’s best to follow a plan at first. Once you get into the routine, it’s easy to continue. “Repetition is the father of all learning”, I don’t know who said it first, but it’s true.

Breakfast

Juice of your choice

Hot cereal

Whole grain toast

Tea

Lunch

Juice of your choice

Salad

Bean or pea soup

Sandwich

Dinner

Juice of your choice

Salad

Stir-fry with vegetables and meat, poultry or seafood

Baked potato

Whole grain roll

In addition to the above I have snacks between meals which can include fresh juice, yogurt or nut butter on whole grain crackers. Celery, carrots and apples are great healthy snacks too.

I prepare my juice in the morning and store it in mason jars for later in the day. I don’t keep it for more than 24 hours, it just tastes better fresh 😎

I try to drink my juice about 20 minutes before my meal, so I have it on an empty stomach. This gives my digestive system time to absorb those fantastic and powerful nutrients.

If you’d like to see the diet plan in it’s entirety, please pick up the book, Juicing for Life: A Guide to the Benefits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juicing. I’m about to embark on a 48 hour juice cleanse or you could call it a juice fast (feast). This is a ritual of mine that I started performing regularly a few years ago. Actually my first juice cleanse was many years ago and I tried it with store bought juice. Yuck!

After the holidays is a great time to cleanse. I’ve found all of that holiday food just doesn’t digest well and it still may be lingering in my colon. Who knows what’s in there 😕

<a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/0895295121" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/0895295121", "");" target="_blank">If you read my last article (Hiatus From Blogging But Not Juicing) you may remember I was targeting constipation, headache and motion sickness. I make this or something similar when I’m in a rush. Rich’s Go Green Smoothie. It’s healthy, easy and quick to make.

Why Go Green? Maca, maca gives it the blast as in nutriblast.

My Go Green Smoothie is so easy to make in the<a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B0163K1Z3G" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B0163K1Z3G", " Nutribullet");" target="_blank"> Nutribullet. I just love my <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B0163K1Z3G" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B0163K1Z3G", "Nutribullet Pro!");" target="_blank">Nutribullet Pro!, but if you don’t have one you can use a blender.<a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B0163K1Z3G" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B0163K1Z3G", "");" target="_blank"><img class="alignleft wp-image-3851 size-thumbnail" src="http://www.primejuicers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/P2097702-2-150x150.jpg" alt="rich"s go green smoothie" width="150" height="150" srcset="http://www.primejuicers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/P2097702-2-150x150.jpg 150w, http://www.primejuicers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/P2097702-2-160x160.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px"/>

This recipe has just a few ingredients. My main ingredient is kale (organic). Kale rich in vitamin B6, vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, manganese and copper to list a few. To boost things I add some <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B00NWXCMJY" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B00NWXCMJY", "maca");" target="_blank">maca and some <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00012NHAC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00012NHAC&linkCode=as2&tag=pj0a0-20&linkId=QKXZS6PPVUABTMMY" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00012NHAC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00012NHAC&linkCode=as2&tag=pj0a0-20&linkId=QKXZS6PPVUABTMMY", "ground flax seed");" target="_blank">ground flax seed.

First a couple of things. My shortcuts. 1. I use frozen fruit. Organic when I can find it. Yeah when I’m in a hurry I’ll use frozen 😉 2. Juice from a bottle. I buy the best I can find. Organic when I can find it. No preservatives and no sweeteners.

Rich’s Go Green Smoothie

<img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-3856" src="http://www.primejuicers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/P2097706-2-150x150.jpg" alt="rich"s go green smoothie cup" width="150" height="150" srcset="http://www.primejuicers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/P2097706-2-150x150.jpg 150w, http://www.primejuicers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/P2097706-2-160x160.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px"/>Ingredients:

Kale – Buy organic. No more than that because it will ruin the taste.

Ground flax seed – 1 Tbsp

Juice – Cranberry, 1 cup

Water – Fill to max line on the cup.

Extract for approximately 40 seconds or until smooth and enjoy.

If you’re looking for an energy boost, you’ll like this recipe. Maca powder is derived from a root that grows in the high altitudes of the Peruvian Andes and is known to be “Nature’s Viagra,” as well as a natural energy booster.

Rich’s Go Green Smoothie is especially good for women too because it includes cranberry juice and maca.

For women, maca decreases menopause symptoms, increases bone density and more.

Cranberry juice provides a number of important health benefits — especially for women. Cranberry juice is good for the prevention of urinary track infections, reduces the risk of breast cancer, enhances heart health and more. See the sources below.

You can find two of my main ingredients at a very good price on Amazon, <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B00NWXCMJY" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B00NWXCMJY", "maca ");" target="_blank">maca and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00012NHAC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00012NHAC&linkCode=as2&tag=pj0a0-20&linkId=QKXZS6PPVUABTMMY" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00012NHAC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00012NHAC&linkCode=as2&tag=pj0a0-20&linkId=QKXZS6PPVUABTMMY", "ground flax seed");" target="_blank">ground flax seed. The Beta Blast calls for apricots, but I couldn’t find fresh apricots anywhere. So, I made due with what I had available and chose to substitute nectarine’s. It turned out great and if you like cantaloupe, you’re going to love this Cantaloupe, Carrot, Nectarine juice recipe.

As you’re juicing be sure to alternate between the soft fruits and the carrot. The carrot is hard and will help push the cantaloupe and nectarine through your juicer. I use an <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B001RLYOEE" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/B001RLYOEE", "Omega J8004 Nutrition Center");">Omega J8004 Nutrition Center.

Cantaloupe, Carrot, Nectarine Fruit Juice – Beta Blast

I was curious why it is called the Beta Blast in the book, so I looked up some info on the ingredients and here’s what I found:

Researchers have recently measured the carotenoid contents of six different California-grown cantaloupe hybrids and discovered that their beta-carotene content can reach levels as high as 3,138 micrograms (per 100 grams of fresh weight). That’s about 30 times higher than the beta-carotene content of fresh oranges. – WHFoods

Now that level of beta-carotene doesn’t match up to the amount in carrots, but our recipe also has carrots! What about my substitute, the nectarine?

Juicy nectarines have delicious flavor and sweet cream-yellow or white flesh. Fruits and vegetables with a bright red, orange and yellow color often have a high amount of beta carotene. Did you know that? It’s the truth.

So there you go. All of the ingredients in this wonderful recipe have a good amount of beta carotene and if you’re lucky enough to find apricots, then you’ll have the exact “Beta Blast” recipe as in <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/0778801810" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/0778801810", "The Juicing Bible");">The Juicing Bible.

This is a delicious and healthy fruit juice recipe. I know there are a few juice recipes named Rocket Fuel, but here’s my simple and easy to make morning juice that I love because it gives me so much energy.

This Rocket Fuel juice recipe first came to me by the free juice recipe software that I use. I’ve made a couple of small modifications though. I added an apple and the quantity of carrots is also different. I want my recipes to produce enough juice for two people. I get asked the question about whether or not to juice the greens, and juicing the greens is fine with fresh carrots. However, when I get store (grocery) bought carrots that come in a bag, I cut the big ends off. I don’t know exactly why, but the end of those carrots just don’t look appealing to me.

Of course whether or not you juice the carrot greens is left entirely up to you. The best way I’ve found to peel grapefruit is to use my hand peeler. It’s like this one – <a href="http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Swivel-Peeler/dp/B00004OCIP/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1457453582&sr=1-1&keywords=peeler&linkCode=ll1&tag=pj0a0-20&linkId=f8d53fa5af67612c620159a5c3f949cf" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Swivel-Peeler/dp/B00004OCIP/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1457453582&sr=1-1&keywords=peeler&linkCode=ll1&tag=pj0a0-20&linkId=f8d53fa5af67612c620159a5c3f949cf", "OXO Good Grips Swivel Peeler");" target="_blank">OXO Good Grips Swivel Peeler.

This beautiful, sweet, but tart juice recipe comes from one of my favorite books, <a href="http://amzn.to/1PnYl3E" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://amzn.to/1PnYl3E", "The Big Book of Juices");" title="The Big Book of Juices" target="_blank">The Big Book of Juices. I made this one in the mornings for Virginia and she used to say, “Ewwweee! You’re juicing the rind on the watermelon?” And of course I said, “Yes, I’ve always done it that way, because the rind helps to push the watermelon through the juicer.” Maybe this juice would be better without the rind for you. I think it’s a matter of personal preference, so try it without the rind if you’re thinking, Ewwweee!

Water Cooler

The trick to this one is getting the thick slice of watermelon right. Personally I like this one a little more tart, so I use a smaller slice and I juice the rind. Try it and taste as you go along to get it right for yourself. It is much more in-depth than your average juicing book. It’s separated into quite a few sections, ranging from simple juices to recipes for using the leftover pulp.

It starts off with a mini-encyclopedia listing herbs, fruits and veggies which can be used in your juicing. Offered is a quick summary of each item, how to use it in juicing, and health benefits of each (good for digestion, cooling, antispasmodic, etc.). Then, there’s a section on common health illnesses which lists juices (and other juice-type items, all of which have recipes in the book) that may help the ailments, as well as dietary tips, foods and herbs that may help the disorder, and some lifestyle changes to try.

The rest of the book has the following sections:

1. Fruit Juices

2. Vegetable Juices

3. Cocktails — these are juices with a little something extra, like yogurt, milks, spices, etc.

4. Frozen treats — most of these recipes utilize leftover pulp from juices

5. Roughies — these are actual food recipes, using the juicing pulp from other recipes

6. Smoothies — uses juices and frozen fruit

7. Digestive Aids and Cleansers — the title section speaks for itself

8. Milk substitutes — recipes for nut milks, apricot milk, fig milk, etc.

9. Coffee substitutes

10. Teas and Tonics — these recipes are mostly for medicinal teas which are geared towards alleviating body ailments and/or aiding and encouraging natural bodily functions and processes.

For those of you looking for a straight forward book that just offers simple, basic juicing recipes, this is not for you; all of the extras will definitely turn you off. But for those of you looking for something that goes beyond your standard carrot-apple combination, this is sure to please. This book really goes above and beyond your typical juicing guide, with options for those that want to add a little more to their juices and really utilize every part of produce used.

Click <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/0778801810" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/pj0a0-20/detail/0778801810", "The Juicing Bible");">The Juicing Bible to purchase it.

The Juicing Bible ReviewAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04016107437933723258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6680007779871172566.post-46303099826841150322016-11-15T18:22:00.000-08:002016-11-15T10:21:53.763-08:00Metabolic Cooking Smoothies
What are Metabolic Cooking Smoothies? I love smoothies, and who doesn’t. If you don’t like smoothies, you’re in the wrong place.

As you know, I’ve been reviewing the <a href="http://c8a6eby7satpfna6jihlv5qkwt.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=PJMETABOLICCOOKING" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://c8a6eby7satpfna6jihlv5qkwt.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=PJMETABOLICCOOKING", "Metabolic Cooking");" target="_blank">Metabolic Cooking program. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to eat healthier, look better, feel better and/or lose weight. One part that you’ll receive from the Metabolic Cooking program is “53 Fat Burning Smoothies and Milkshakes.” This is the part I love.

<a href="http://c8a6eby7satpfna6jihlv5qkwt.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=PJMETABOLICCOOKING" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://c8a6eby7satpfna6jihlv5qkwt.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=PJMETABOLICCOOKING", "");" target="_blank">Of course I can’t review all of the cooking recipes or smoothie recipes because that wouldn’t be fair to the authors, but I think it’s okay to share something about it. Protein provides the building blocks for the body to build muscle. Protein also requires more energy from the body to digest, thus increasing your metabolism.

High Quality Protein= Muscle and increased metabolic rate.

Metabolic Cooking Smoothies

<a href="http://c8a6eby7satpfna6jihlv5qkwt.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=PJMETABOLICCOOKING" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://c8a6eby7satpfna6jihlv5qkwt.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=PJMETABOLICCOOKING", "Metabolic Cooking");" target="_blank">Metabolic Cooking smoothies are high in protein. Once you sign up for the Metabolic Cooking program you’ll be introduced to Biotrust a low carb, protein supplement. This is an excellent choice. You can use others, but be sure to read the ingredients. Look for a protein supplement with all natural ingredients and no artificial colors or sweeteners. Also check the sugar content. Low sugar is very important to me. I don’t want to add a lot of sugar to my smoothies. See the link below for other protein powder suggestions.

To make these high protein smoothies you’ll not only need a protein supplement, but you’ll also need a blender or my personal choice, a <a href="http://amzn.to/1K04twA" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://amzn.to/1K04twA", "NutriBullet Pro");" target="_blank">NutriBullet Pro. The process of juicing as well as the health benefits are wonderful. I enjoy growing and picking my own vegetables for juicing. I feel healthier because of juicing and not only that, it tastes great! Juicing vs. Blending: What’s the difference?

Juicing vs. Blending

The last month or so I have been blending and more recently I started using a new machine, the <a href="http://amzn.to/1K04twA" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://amzn.to/1K04twA", "NutriBullet");" target="_blank">NutriBullet. This is not juicing, it is blending. There is a difference. Juicing extracts the pulp and blending pulverizes it. I like the results of using the <a href="http://amzn.to/1K04twA" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://amzn.to/1K04twA", "Nutribullet");" target="_blank">Nutribullet. It’s easy to use, easy to clean up, delicious and healthy. So what are the differences between juicing and blending? Which is better?

<a href="http://amzn.to/1K27Mya" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://amzn.to/1K27Mya", "");" target="_blank">

To the left is the <a href="http://amzn.to/1K04twA" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://amzn.to/1K04twA", "Magic Bullet Nutribullet Pro 900");" target="_blank">Magic Bullet Nutribullet Pro 900. It’s more powerful than the old original NutriBullet. It has a 900 watt motor and 2 extractor blades so extracting your food is now even easier. The NutriBullet Pro opens seeds, cracks through stems, shreds tough skins and accesses hidden nutrients in food. It breaks down food to its most digestible state. It claims to drastically improve your health and energy levels.

Juicing

When juicing, the juicer extracts the juice, leaving behind pulp. You get mostly juice and it can take a whole lot of produce to make 32 ounces of juice. On the plus side, you’re getting a lot of nutrients in the juice. When I juice a simple recipe I may be juicing two handfuls of spinach, a big handful of kale, a cucumber, a beet, a few carrots, a little ginger and a whole apple. That juice packs a lot of nutrients and it’s really good for the body. You can pack more servings of fruits and veggies into a single serving of juice than you can into a smoothie. Juicing extracts the nutrients from the produce, breaks it down and makes it easier for the body to digest. It’s great for cleansing!

Juicing vs. Blending: On the downside juicing costs a little more because we have to use so much food and the pulp (fiber) is usually going to waste. (It goes to my garden, so it’s really not wasted.) It takes a little longer than blending too.

Blending/Extracting

When blending, the blender or in my case the <a href="http://amzn.to/1K04twA" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://amzn.to/1K04twA", "NutriBullet");" target="_blank">NutriBullet, pulverizes the produce to make it into a smoothie. (NutriBullet claims it is an extractor, so not necessarily a blender. See below.) We’re getting the pulp as well as the juice. It is breaking down the food making it is easier for our bodies to digest. I don’t get the quantity of nutrients as with juicing, but I get the fiber and that is a good thing, especially when blending fruits. Fruits contain sugar and if you juice only fruits it can raise your blood sugar level. That’s not a good thing.

Juicing vs. Blending: If we’re just talking about fruit, blending fruit is better in my opinion because the fiber is still there and the sugar doesn’t enter the bloodstream so quickly as with juicing. Fiber is filling and we stay full longer too.

Here’s a paragraph from the NutriBullet website: “Nutrient Extraction is the mechanism the NutriBullet uses to break down fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and other plant foods down to their most absorbable state. Unlike juicers and blenders, NutriBullet nutrient extractors break down the cell walls of fibrous plant foods, releasing important vitamins and minerals contained within. At the same time, they reduce beneficial fiber, pulp, seeds, and skins into a smooth-as-silk texture, delivering food to your body in an easily digestible, easily absorbable form. More than juicing, more than blending, and more than chewing, nutrient extraction allows you to receive the highest degree of nutrition your food has to offer.”

Read more at <a href="https://www.nutribullet.com/" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "https://www.nutribullet.com/", "https://www.nutribullet.com/");" target="_blank">https://www.nutribullet.com/

Juicing vs. Blending Which is Better?

In all honesty, I don’t know.

I imagine the majority of people don’t know how they can possibly supply their body with enough protein while consuming only FRESH fruit & vegetable JUICE. There are many excellent raw sources of protein. See below.

Not getting enough protein while juice fasting is a legitimate concern. Getting enough of any food source is important and protein is something our bodies require to thrive. Fret not people, raw, plant-based protein absolutely provides a person with more than enough protein to nourish the body. Ask any true Vegan!

Juicing

When juicing regularly or juice fasting you’re not starving your body. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Your body is getting more nutrition that it’s probably ever received. Juicing breaks down the cells and concentrates the nutrients allowing your body to absorb more. You wouldn’t be able to eat even half of the raw fruits and vegetables you’ll be consuming on a juice fast. It’s just too much to chew and swallow.

Here’s a list of several raw sources of protein you can juice: Asparagus, Beet Greens, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Collard Greens, Kale, Mustard Greens, Spinach, Swiss Chard, Sprouts, Tomatoes and Turnip Greens. (<a href="http://www.rawpeople.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=594&Itemid=110" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://www.rawpeople.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=594&Itemid=110", "Source");" title="RawPeople" target="_blank">Source)

Protein Levels

From LIVESTRONG.COM:

Blood protein levels remain constant throughout a prolonged juice diet. Proteins are synthesized from decomposed cells, notes Germany’s “fasting therapist”, Dr. Otto Buchinger, who founded several European health clinics. New cell growth is enhanced during a juice diet, as the body shifts protein and other stored nutrients to where they are needed. After a few days of consuming only liquids, your body will “autolyze,” or self-digest, cells and tissues which are diseased, damaged, aging or dead. The process has been called “a burning of rubbish” by Buchinger in his book, “Fasting: the Buchinger Method.”

Using a juice extractor unlocks essential nutrients in the fibers of fruits and vegetables, notes Ron Lagerquist, author of “Fasting to Freedom” and “Whole Foods & Healing Recipes.” Lagerquist maintains that a juice diet provides better rejuvenation than fasting on water, which often causes an unpleasant toxic crisis.

<a href="http://astore.amazon.com/k0pir-20/detail/B003R28HWQ" onclick="__gaTracker("send", "event", "outbound-article", "http://astore.amazon.com/k0pir-20/detail/B003R28HWQ", "");" title="Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain" target="_blank">
BUY NOW!

I do not promote long term juice fasts of 30 days or more. 5 to 7 days is sufficient for me. I never would have thought to mix carrots with grapefruit, but Orange Morning does it! I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this fruit juice is. The combination of grapefruit, carrots and ginger is perfect. The grapefruit isn’t near as strong with the carrot and ginger added in. Honestly I could barely taste the carrots and there’s just the slightest hint of ginger. This is one time where I can actually add the suggested amount of ginger in a juice and not be overwhelmed by it.

Orange Morning

“Another great morning staple but one where the sharp, awakening grapefruit tang is tempered by the sweet, rich carrot” – Orange Morning from The Big Book of Juices

In my opinion, one of the best grapefruit juice recipes out there and pretty low in calories.
